The London DOM's role
As a result of the Ministry of Justice organisational review announced to parliament in January 2008, the decision was made to merge the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) and the Prison Service in order to improve focus on frontline delivery.
London and Wales are the first areas to implement the new arrangements with the Prison Service London Area Office and the Office of the Regional Offender Manager for London formally merging.
From 1 April 2008, Nick Pascoe, formerly Prison Service Area Manger, has been appointed as the new Director of Offender Management for London, and will be responsible for commissioning the prison and probation services in London and reducing re-offending in the capital.
