Speech on the role of restorative justice (new window)
On 30 April Jack Straw made a speech on the role of restorative justice on the tenth anniversary of the Restorative Justice Consortium. More information about the Consortium can be found on their website (new window).
National Provider Network directory
An online National Provider Network directory (new window) has been developed in partnership with Ministry of Justice Electronic Delivery Group. The directory currently contains details of over 1100 providers from all sectors who have specifically expressed an interest in offender intervention services. It will also be used for issuing tender notices and other relevant information.
Public Accounts Committee – Supervision of Community Orders
Suma Chakrabati, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Roger Hill, Director of Probation, and Phil Wheatley, Chief Executive of NOMS appeared before the PAC on 23 April regarding the Supervision of community Orders in England. Latest statistics
Details of the latest statistical updates, including statistics on the population in custody, end of custody licence releases and recalls and probation. The probation statistics (new window) cover the final quarter of 2007, and the population in custody (new window) and end of custody licence statistics (new window) show figures for March 2008.
Forward Look
Next week the Ministry of Justice celebrates its first anniversary. To coincide with the event the department will be announcing its Departmental Strategic Objectives and the appointment of non-executive directors.
Adult reoffending statistics (2000-2005) will be published (9 May).
